Natural Habitat
Open areas including grasslands, prairies, gardens, and on the exterior of buildings or fences.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivorous; primarily eats small insects like flies, moths, and beetles, as well as other spiders.
Behavior Patterns
Active diurnal hunters with excellent vision; they do not build webs to catch prey but instead stalk and pounce on it. They use silk safety lines when jumping.
Risks & Benefits
Benefits the ecosystem by controlling pest populations. Generally harmless to humans; while they can bite if mishandled, their venom is not medically significant and they are shy by nature.
