Behavior Patterns
Mated females burrow into the skin to lay eggs, creating microscopic tunnels. Transmission occurs primarily through prolonged, direct skin-to-skin contact.
Risks & Benefits
Causes scabies, a contagious skin infestation resulting in intense itching, rashes, and secondary bacterial infections from scratching. No ecological or human benefits.
