Springtails

Damp environments, soil, leaf litter, rotting wood, and occasionally damp areas inside homes like bathrooms or kitchens.

They are wingless and known for using a specialized tail-like appendage called a furca to spring or jump into the air when disturbed. They reproduce rapidly in moist conditions.

Risks: They are generally harmless to humans, pets, and structures, though sudden indoor swarms can be a nuisance. Benefits: They help break down organic matter and contribute to soil health and nutrient recycling.
