Size: 4 to 5 mm (adults), roughly the size of an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Found indoors, primarily near human sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and cracks or crevices in walls.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal for each stage of development.
Risks & Benefits
While not known to transmit diseases, their bites can cause itchy red welts, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress. They are major household pests that are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
