Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, specifically within cracks, crevices, mattress seams, and upholstered furniture in human dwellings.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans. The dark spots visible represent digested blood (fecal spotting).

Behavior Patterns

Primarily nocturnal and elusive, they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt into the next stage.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include skin irritation, allergic reactions, and psychological distress from infestations. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits in a domestic human setting.
