Natural Habitat

Behavior Patterns
They are wingless and cannot jump or fly; they move by crawling from hair to hair. They lay eggs (nits) that are firmly glued to the hair shaft close to the scalp.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include intense itching, scalp irritation, and potential secondary skin infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases, but they are highly contagious through head-to-head contact.
