Natural Habitat
Commonly found in and around human dwellings, garages, and sheds, often in dark, sheltered corners.
Diet & Feeding
Primarily feeds on small insects and other spiders caught in its messy, irregular cobwebs.
Behavior Patterns
They are nocturnal hunters and are generally shy, spending most of their time in their retreat or on their web. They are not aggressive toward humans and usually wait for prey to come to them.
Risks & Benefits
Generally beneficial as they control pest insect populations. While they possess venom, their bite is typically no more painful than a wasp sting, though it can cause localized swelling or discomfort in humans; however, they only bite if threatened or handled.
