Larvae exhibit 'debris-carrying' behavior, attaching carcasses of prey, lichen, and plant fibers to their backs using hooked bristles for camouflage and defense.

Highly beneficial as biological pest control for gardens; however, they can give a small, harmless nip to humans if handled.
