Size: 4 to 5 mm (adults), roughly the size of an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, specifically in tight crevices near sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and furniture.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans. A nymph appears bright red after a blood meal.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They go through five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal between each molt.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits in a domestic setting; they are considered significant pests.
