Natural Habitat
Dwellings, especially mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and cracks/crevices. They prefer areas close to where humans sleep.
Diet & Feeding
Exclusively blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat. They are highly resilient and can survive for months without a blood meal.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include itchy red welts from bites, allergic reactions to bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress (anxiety, insomnia). They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits.
