Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, primarily in cracks and crevices near human sleeping areas like mattresses, bed frames, and headboards
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages, feeding exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, preferably humans
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to molt into the next stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy allergic reactions to bites, skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress (insomnia/anxiety). They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits to the ecosystem or humans.
