Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
Significant public health pests causing itchy welts, allergic reactions, psychological distress, and insomnia. They do not typically transmit diseases but are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
