Webbing Clothes Moth
Scientific Name: Tineola bisselliella
Order & Family: Order: Lepidoptera, Family: Tineidae
Size: Adults are approximately 6-8mm (0.25-0.3 inches) in length, with a wingspan of about 12-16mm.

Natural Habitat
Typically found indoors in dark, undisturbed locations such as closets, wardrobes, attics, and underneath furniture where natural fibers like wool are stored.
Diet & Feeding
Adults do not eat; the larvae feed on natural fibers containing keratin, such as wool, fur, silk, feathers, and occasionally cotton if blended with wool.
Behavior Patterns
Adults are photophobic (they avoid light) and tend to scuttle rather than fly when disturbed. They prefer running into folds of fabric. Larvae spin silken tubes or patches of webbing as they feed, which creates the characteristic damage found on clothes.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Significant pest of textiles, capable of ruining expensive clothing, carpets, and upholstery; not a vector for disease and does not bite humans. Benefits: None in a household setting, though in nature, they aid in breaking down animal detritus.
