Tawny Wood Cockroach (or Outdoor Wood Cockroach)

Outdoors in leaf litter, under bark, mulch, and low vegetation; occasionally wanders indoors by accident.

Decomposing organic matter, plant debris, fungi, and pollen.

Active during the day and early evening, attracted to light, and capable of flight. Unlike household pest cockroaches, they do not reproduce or establish infestations indoors.

Risks: None to human health; they do not bite or vector indoor diseases. Benefits: Act as beneficial decomposers in garden ecosystems and leaf litter.
