Natural Habitat

Behavior Patterns

Mainly nocturnal and elusive, they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages, each requiring a blood meal to molt.

They are a significant public health nuisance, causing itchy bites, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. While not known to transmit diseases, heavy infestations can lead to secondary skin infections and insomnia.
