Pantropical; commonly found in stored food products, pantries, and food processing facilities.

Omnivorous; primarily feeds on stored grains, cereals, pasta, nuts, dried fruits, pet food, and other dry food products.

Flies readily; infests a wide range of stored food products, often seeking out damaged grains or packaging to lay eggs. Larvae and adults feed within the food.

Major pest of stored food products, causing significant economic losses due to contamination and spoilage. Does not bite or spread disease to humans.
