Dubia Cockroach (Freshly Molted / Teneral)

Tropical rainforests of Central and South America, under leaf litter, decaying wood, and humid crevices; widely kept in captivity as live feeder insects for reptiles.

Omnivorous detritivore; consumes decaying plant material, fallen fruits, vegetables, cereal grains, and protein sources.

Nocturnal, docile, and non-climbing on smooth glass/plastic surfaces. The pale white-yellow appearance is due to ecdysis (molting); the exoskeleton expands and gradually darkens/hardens into brown or black over several hours.

Benefits: Extremely popular, nutritious, and easy-to-digest feeder insect for pet reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Risks: Non-pest species that rarely infests homes as it requires high humidity and heat to breed; prolonged contact with shed skins or frass can cause mild insect allergies in humans.
