Diet & Feeding
Herbivorous; both larvae and adults feed on the foliage of host plants, often creating small holes in the leaves.
Behavior Patterns
Notable for their tortoise-shaped, transparent shell with dark, clavate (club-shaped) markings. They undergo complete metamorphosis; larvae often carry a "fecal shield" comprised of waste and shed skins on their backs to deter predators.
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered a minor garden pest. While they consume plant tissue, they rarely cause significant economic damage to crops. They do not pose any direct risk to humans.
