Natural Habitat
Found on various grasses and cereal crops in fields, gardens, and pastures globally.
Diet & Feeding
Herbivorous; they pierce plant cells (mostly grasses) and suck out the cellular contents.
Behavior Patterns
Active during warmer months; they move slowly and often live within the leaf sheaths of grasses. They reproduce through both sexual and asexual means (parthenogenesis).
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered minor agricultural pests as they can cause 'silvering' or scarring on grass blades. They pose no risk to humans or pets but can reduce crop yields in extreme infestations.
