Fungus Gnat

Found in moist environments such as houseplant soil, greenhouses, and decaying organic matter.

Larvae feed on fungi, algae, and organic matter in soil; adults do not feed or consume liquid sources only.

Adults are weak fliers and often seen running across plant soil or flying near lights. They have a short lifespan of about one week.

Generally harmless to humans but larvae can damage plant roots in large numbers; also considered a nuisance pest in homes.
