Flat Bug

Found under loose bark of dead or dying trees, in leaf litter, or on fungi.

They are mycophagous, primarily feeding on the mycelia of fungi or liquids from rotting wood.

Gregarious insects that are extremely flat to fit into tight crevices; they undergo incomplete metamorphosis with nymph stages resembling small adults.

Harmless to humans; they benefit the ecosystem by assisting in the decomposition of wood and indicating forest health.
