Bed Bug
Scientific Name: Cimex lectularius
Order & Family: Hemiptera, Cimicidae
Size: 4-5 mm (adults), similar to an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Primarily human dwellings, especially beds, mattresses, bed frames, and cracks/crevices in walls and furniture. They also infest hotels, dormitories, and other shared living spaces.
Diet & Feeding
Exclusively feeds on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal feeders, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat. Females lay eggs in secluded places, and nymphs undergo five molts before reaching adulthood, each requiring a blood meal.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include itchy red welts from bites, allergic reactions, and secondary skin infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits to humans or the ecosystem.
