Natural Habitat
Typically found in indoor human environments, specifically in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and headboards.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
They are primarily nocturnal and photophobic. They undergo five nymphal stages (instars) before reaching maturity, requiring a blood meal to molt into each subsequent stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress/insomnia. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known ecological benefits to their presence in human dwellings.
