Gardens, agricultural fields, forests, and suburban landscapes high in vegetation.

Aphids, mealybugs, scale insects, spider mites, and insect eggs. They are voracious predators known as aphid lions.

Active hunters that use sickle-shaped mandibles to pierce prey and suck out body fluids. Some species camouflage themselves using debris or the remains of their prey.

Highly beneficial to humans as biological pest control; they can occasionally give a tiny, non-venomous bite to humans if handled, but it is harmless.
