Omnivorous; feeds on proteins, fats, and sugary substances like syrups, jelly, and fruit juices.
Behavior Patterns
Infestations grow through 'budding,' where a portion of the colony leaves with a queen to form a new nest. They do not typically swarm like other ants.
Risks & Benefits
Significant indoor pest. They can transmit pathogens like Salmonellosis, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus by crawling over sterile surfaces or food.
