Natural Habitat

Typically found indoors in sleeping areas, cracks and crevices of furniture, mattress seams, bed frames, and baseboards.

Diet & Feeding

The insect that shed this skin feeds exclusively on blood (hematophagous), primarily human blood, though they will feed on other warm-blooded animals.

Behavior Patterns

This object is not a living bug but the shed exoskeleton (molt) left behind as a bed bug nymph grows. Bed bugs go through 5 nymphal stages, shedding their skin at each stage before reaching adulthood. Finding these skins is a strong indicator of an active infestation.

Risks & Benefits

Risks: These skins indicate the presence of bed bugs, which cause itchy bites, allergic reactions, anxiety, and insomnia. The skins themselves can contribute to indoor allergens. There are no benefits to having them in a home.
