Bed Bug

Human dwellings, specifically in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas (mattresses, bed frames, and headboards)

Hematophagous; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult)

While not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itchy red welts, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress and insomnia
