Booklouse

Damp, humid indoor areas, libraries, pantries, and sometimes outdoors under bark or leaf litter.

Molds, fungi, starch, book bindings, wallpaper paste, and dry stored food products.

They are wingless, prefer high humidity and warmth, move quickly when disturbed, and reproduce rapidly via parthenogenesis in many cases.

Risks: They do not bite or transmit diseases, but large infestations can contaminate stored foods and damage books or wallpaper. Benefits: They feed on mold, signaling high moisture levels that need remediation.
