Behavior Patterns

Eusocial insects that live in colonies. This individual is a reproductive 'alate' or swarmer that has shed its wings to find a mate and start a new colony. They are most active during swarming seasons, often after a rain or during specific temperature shifts.

Risks & Benefits

Benefits the ecosystem by breaking down dead wood. However, they are serious structural pests that can cause significant damage to buildings and furniture. They do not pose a direct physical risk to humans or pets.
