Primarily feeds on mold, fungi, and products with high protein/fat content like cheese, dried meats, nuts, and seeds.

Behavior Patterns

They reproduce rapidly in humid conditions. They do not bite humans or animals but congregate in large numbers where 'mite dust' (accumulated mites and waste) can be seen.

Risks & Benefits

Generally harmless to humans but can cause allergic reactions (dermatitis or respiratory issues) in sensitive individuals; they are considered a nuisance pest that contaminates stored food.
