Natural Habitat

Found indoors, primarily in residential dwellings, hotels, and public transport, hiding in cracks, crevices, and bedside furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Strictly hematophagous (blood-feeding); they primarily feed on human blood but can bite other warm-blooded animals.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt into each successive stage.

Risks & Benefits

High risk as a domestic pest; although not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itching, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. They have no known benefits to humans or ecosystems.
