Masked Hunter Nymph (Tentative Identification)

Natural Habitat

Often found indoors in dusty corners, attics, and basements where their prey (bed bugs, silverfish) reside. Outdoors, they live in wooded areas or barns.

Diet & Feeding

Strictly carnivorous predators. They feed on small arthropods including bed bugs, silverfish, woodlice, and flies.

Behavior Patterns

Nymphs stick debris (lint, dust, sand) to their sticky bodies as camouflage to hide from predators and ambush prey. This often makes them look like a moving ball of dust or lint.

Risks & Benefits

Benefits: Excellent biological control for household pests like bed bugs and silverfish. Risks: While they do not seek out humans, they can deliver a very painful bite if handled or mishandled, similar in pain to a bee sting.
