Natural Habitat

Indoors, especially in dark, undisturbed areas like closets, attics, and storage bins where natural fibers are available.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on natural animal fibers including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and leather. Adults do not eat.

Behavior Patterns

The adults are photophobic (avoid light) and are weak fliers. Females lay up to 40-50 eggs. The larvae spin silken tubes or mats over their food source to hide while feeding.
