Bed bug
Scientific Name: Cimex lectularius
Order & Family: Hemiptera (true bugs), Cimicidae
Size: 4-5 mm (adults), about the size of an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Primarily human dwellings, especially bedrooms, living in cracks and crevices of mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and walls.
Diet & Feeding
Exclusively blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans. They feed by piercing the skin and drawing blood.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat. They are known for rapid reproduction and can be difficult to eradicate once established.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy red bites, allergic reactions, and secondary skin infections from scratching. They do not transmit diseases. There are no known benefits.
