Bird Mite

Bird nests, poultry houses, and occasionally indoor spaces where birds are nesting nearby such as eaves or vents.

Hematophagous; they primarily feed on the blood of birds, but may bite humans if their avian host is absent.

Highly mobile and nocturnal; they undergo a rapid life cycle (egg to adult in 7 days) and often swarm in large numbers when a bird host leaves the nest.

Risks include irritation, itching, and dermatitis in humans from bites. They do not typically live on humans but can cause significant discomfort and require professional pest control.
