Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on natural fibers of animal origin, including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and hair. Adults do not eat.
Behavior Patterns
Unlike many moths, they avoid light and prefer to scuttle or run across surfaces rather than fly long distances. Females lay eggs on potential food sources; larvae spin silken tubes or mats to hide while feeding.

Significant risk to household textiles, clothing, and upholstery. They provide no direct benefit to humans and can cause expensive damage to personal property and historical artifacts.
