Natural Habitat

Primarily human dwellings, especially beds, mattresses, bed frames, and cracks/crevices nearby. They are found in homes, hotels, dorms, and various other communal living spaces.

Diet & Feeding

Blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans. Nymphs require a blood meal to molt to the next instar.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal, typically feeding on sleeping hosts. They are cryptic and hide in cracks and crevices during the day. They have several nymphal stages, each requiring a blood meal to progress. They do not fly or jump but crawl quickly.

Risks & Benefits

Potential risks include itchy bites, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and significant psychological distress (anxiety, insomnia). They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits.
