Diet & Feeding
Larvae scavenge on natural fibers of animal origin (wool, silk, feathers, fur, leather) and dried pantry goods. Adults feed on pollen and nectar.
Behavior Patterns
The larval stage is the destructive phase, often hiding in dark, undisturbed areas to feed. They undergo complete metamorphosis. Adults are attracted to light and often found near windows.

Significant household pest that can damage clothing and textiles. Some people may experience allergic reactions or skin irritation from contact with the larval hairs (bristles).
