Casemaking Clothes Moth (Larva/Case)

Indoor environments, particularly in closets, drawers, or storage areas where natural fibers are kept. Can also be found in bird nests.

Larvae feed on keratins found in natural fibers like wool, silk, fur, feathers, and hair. They can also feed on stored spices or tobacco.

The larva builds a portable silken case incorporating debris and fibers. It lives inside this case, dragging it along as it feeds. They prefer dark, undisturbed areas and avoid light.

They are a significant domestic pest that causes permanent damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. They do not pose health risks to humans directly but can be very destructive to personal property.
