Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on keratin-containing animal products such as wool, fur, silk, feathers, and old carpets.
Behavior Patterns
The larva builds a silk case encrusted with debris and fibers for protection. It carries this case while feeding and eventually pupates inside it. Adults do not feed and are weakly flying, often staying in dark areas.
Risks & Benefits
They are major household pests that cause significant damage to clothing, textiles, and upholstery. They provide no direct benefit to the household ecosystem.
