02.AI limitations
AI models can make mistakes, misinterpret visual features, or produce inaccurate results (commonly referred to as “hallucinations”). The AI may identify the wrong species altogether, misstate physical characteristics, or describe habitat, behavior, or risks incorrectly. Photographs alone are often insufficient to distinguish visually similar species — many insects and spiders cannot be reliably told apart without close physical examination by an expert.

You are solely responsible for how you use identification results. Always verify important details independently — through reference materials, a qualified entomologist, or a licensed pest-control professional — before relying on an identification for any decision.

Identifications must not be used to determine whether an insect, spider, or other arthropod is safe to touch, handle, or approach, whether it bites or stings, whether it is venomous, or whether it carries disease. Treat unknown bugs with appropriate caution regardless of what the AI reports, and seek immediate medical attention for any bite or sting causing concern.

Public identifications shared to the community feed are AI-generated content submitted by other users. They carry the same limitations described here and have not been reviewed by experts.
