Behavior Patterns
Larvae are known for camouflage; they attach the remains of their prey, lichen, and debris to hooked bristles on their backs to hide from predators. They are highly active hunters with sickle-shaped mandibles.
Risks & Benefits
Extremely beneficial to the ecosystem and gardeners as biological pest control; however, they may occasionally provide a minor, harmless nip to human skin if handled.
