Natural Habitat

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal insects that are strongly attracted to bright lights. They are known for their clumsy flight and the buzzing sound they make. They emerge from the soil in late spring or early summer.

Risks & Benefits

Harmless to humans as they do not bite or sting. However, the larvae can be significant agricultural and lawn pests by damaging root systems, while large numbers of adults can defoliate garden plants.
