Behavior Patterns
Larvae construct a protective silk case covered with plant debris and live inside it while feeding. Females are wingless and remain in the bag to mate and lay eggs.
Risks & Benefits
Considered a significant landscape pest; heavy infestations can completely defoliate and kill host trees. They offer no notable benefits to the human ecosystem.
