Brown-banded cockroach nymph

Warm, dry indoor areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, appliances, and wall voids. Unlike many cockroaches, it does not require high humidity near water sources.

An omnivorous scavenger feeding on crumbs, starches, grease, dead insects, glue, and organic debris. It may also consume fabrics or book bindings when food is scarce.

Mostly nocturnal, fast-running, and secretive; it hides in cracks during daylight. Females attach egg cases to sheltered surfaces, and development from nymph to adult commonly takes several months indoors.

It can contaminate food and surfaces and mechanically spread bacteria, allergens, and cockroach-related asthma triggers. It has little meaningful ecological benefit inside homes, though cockroaches generally contribute to decomposition outdoors.
