Natural Habitat

Typically found inside houses, around door frames, baseboards, and on walls in humid subtropical environments.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on spider webs and natural fibers such as wool or silk, as well as human hair and lint.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds a silk case covered with sand, soil, and dust. It moves by extending its head and legs from either end of the case to pull itself along. Eventually, it attaches the case to a surface to pupate.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered a minor household pest because they can damage silk or wool fabrics and carpets, but they pose no direct health risk to humans.
