Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on organic fibers such as silk, wool, human hair, spider webs, and dead insects.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective silk case covered in sand, dust, and debris. It is open at both ends, allowing the larva to turn around and feed from either side. They undergo complete metamorphosis.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered minor household pests because they can damage natural fiber clothing, rugs, and upholstery. They do not bite or pose a direct health risk to humans.
