Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding

Carnivorous; they prey on a variety of small insects including flies, gnats, and small moths using their excellent vision to hunt.

Behavior Patterns

Active diurnal hunters that do not spin webs to catch prey. They use silk as a safety line (dragline) when leaping and exhibit complex courtship dances involving leg waving.

Risks & Benefits

Benefits the ecosystem by providing natural pest control. They are generally harmless to humans; while they are capable of biting if handled roughly, their venom is not considered medically significant.
