Warm, humid indoor areas—especially kitchens, bathrooms, wall voids, and near plumbing or appliances.

Omnivorous scavengers that consume food scraps, grease, starches, pet food, cardboard, and other organic materials.

Mostly nocturnal, fast-moving, and strongly inclined to hide in cracks during daylight. Females carry egg cases until shortly before hatching; several generations may occur annually indoors.

They can contaminate food and surfaces and spread allergens associated with asthma and dermatitis. They provide little household benefit, though they contribute to decomposition outdoors.
