Natural Habitat

Found indoors in houses, typically on walls or in corners. They thrive in warm, humid climates.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on organic fibers including wool, silk, felt, fur, human hair, and spider webs.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective spindle-shaped case from silk and debris (sand, dust, lint). It stays inside the case, extending its head to feed and drag the case along. When ready to pupate, it attaches the case to a vertical surface.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered a minor domestic pest because they can damage clothes, rugs, and upholstery made of natural fibers. They do not bite humans or pets and have no significant ecosystem benefits in a domestic setting.
